President of Argentina votes in the second round of presidential elections

The current president of Argentina, Alberto Fernández (Unión por la Patria), voted this Sunday (19) in the second round of the country’s presidential elections.

Fernández was present at around 11:10 am at the Catholic University of Argentina, in Buenos Aires, to register his vote.

In a publication on the social network X, formerly Twitter, the president of Argentina wishes that “Argentina continues to respect and care for the democracy recovered 40 years ago”.

Fernández also briefly addressed the journalists present at the scene. “I trust that everything will develop in order and peace”, said the current president.

This Sunday, Argentines vote in the second round of the presidential elections after Sergio Massa, the government candidate and current minister of the country’s economy, ended the first round with 36.69% of the valid votes, while the ultraliberal opponent, Javier Milei, added 29.99%.

According to a projection by the Atlasintel agency published on November 10, Milei should win the election with 52.1% of the total votes, against Massa’s 47.9% – with a margin of error of one percentage point. The agency was the only one that indicated the government’s victory in the first round.

To achieve the turnaround – a feat achieved only by former president Maurício Macri, in 2015 – Milei counts on the support of third place in the first round, Patricia Bullrich (Juntos por el Cambio), who had 23.84% of the votes.
