The price of the US Dollar against the Colombian Peso has fallen to daily lows of 3,817.51 after opening the day on Thursday around 3,823.38 and subsequently rising to a ceiling of 3,827.78.
USD/COP is trading at the time of writing above 3,825.50, gaining 0.06% on the day.
Colombia's GDP meets expectations and grows 0.7% in the first quarter of 2024
- The Colombian economy grew at a rate of 0.7% in the first quarter of 2024, as revealed by the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) published on Wednesday afternoon. The figure met market expectations and improved on the 0.3% growth in the last third of 2023. This is the largest increase in GDP since the fourth quarter of 2022.
- Today the US released weekly jobless claims data for the week of May 10, showing a drop of 10,000 to 222,000 from 232,000. Despite the decline, the indicator has disappointed the forecasts of experts, who expected a decline to 220,000.
