New headaches for the British royal family: he is always at the center of the matter, prince Harry, just got back to London for the tabloid lawsuit. And it is precisely this that worries King Charles and his son William, at least according to the latest rumors arriving from the United Kingdom.
“I can’t imagine anyone being happy, they will force themselves in private”, an insider let slip a Page Six. At the heart of it all is just one thing: the good name of the monarchy, also with priority over the crimes of which the prince was the victim, admitted by the publishers of some British newspapers involved in the scandal. “In most cases the royal family avoids confrontation with the media. Litigation is so long and stressful and unpredictable, not to mention expensive, but most importantly one can have no idea which direction it will take the other side and what it will come up with.’
The unpredictability of the process, therefore, is what worries Buckingham Palace the most. The impossibility of knowing in advance what will happen leaves little room for effective countermovesand in a context where there is always a lot at stake this is not a good thing, without considering the secrets that could come out, causing potentially dangerous scandals.
However, that’s not all. Andrew Green, the lawyer representing Mirror Group Newspapers, told the court that many of the stories published about Harry “came from information disclosed by or on behalf of members of the royal family». Obviously, the Court is already trembling thinking about what could emerge. As if that weren’t enough, Harry’s lawyer last Monday also brought up William, stating in no uncertain terms that the basis of the feud between the two brothers there would be precisely the telephone hacking of which the minor was the victim. Harry arrived in London on Monday, but did not attend the first hearing of the case in which he is the protagonist, also causing the annoyance of judge Timothy Fancourt: “I’m a little surprised,” he declared in the courtroom, annoyed. Harry preferred to take it easy this time and left Los Angeles after celebrating his daughter Lilibet’s second birthday on June 4th.
Despite apparently being a victim, however, not everyone agrees on this interpretation, starting with the historian Hugo Vickers, who on the pages of Page Six accused him of wanting to set up a new circus. “He has time to come to England and cause trouble, but not to see his family and solve the big problems”. Maybe it’s not a matter of time, but of desire. That the wrongs suffered are so great that there is no room for (mutual) forgiveness?
