Prosecutors seek nearly 31-year prison sentence for Keiko Fujimori in Peru

Peruvian prosecutors are seeking 30 or more years in prison for right-wing politician Keiko Fujimori, a three-time Peruvian presidential candidate who has gone on trial for money laundering in the much-vaunted Odebrecht scandal. “The sentence requested by the prosecution (to be imposed) against the accused Keiko Sophia Fujimori Iguchi is 30 years and 10 months in prison,” prosecutor Jose Domingo Perez summarized yesterday Tuesday, presenting the indictment. This is the heaviest penalty that the charges against her carry.
