For the public health doctor and former director of the National Health Surveillance Agency (Anvisa), Gonzalo Vecina Neto, the public consultation of the Ministry of Health on childhood vaccination confuses the population and does not add technical information to the subject.
According to the folder, the public consultation begins this Thursday (23). However, this morning the website with the information was not yet available. In a statement, the folder informed that the platform will be made available this Thursday as published in the Official Gazette.
“What the health minister is doing is confusing, confusing the Brazilian population at the behest of our president,” said the former director of Anvisa in an interview with CNN this Thursday (23).
According to Vecina, the consultation will not add technical data – it will only issue opinions on the vaccination of this age group. “There is nothing to add from the point of view of technical knowledge in this public consultation, there will only be opinions.”
According to the former director of Anvisa, the analyzes for the approval of vaccination in children (5 to 11 years old) were carried out by around 100 professionals from the agency and the Technical Advisory Board on Immunization Covid-19 (Cetai), an agency from the Ministry of Health, has already expressed itself in favor of the issue.
“Cetai, from the Ministry of Health, created by this minister in August of this year, unanimously manifested itself on December 17 in favor of the vaccine, which is already approved and being used in ten countries more developed than ours. What the Ministry of Health is doing is fantastically hypocritical”, he said.
