The purchase intention for Father’s Day should register the best result of the last four years, with the impulse of the increase of Auxílio-Brasil, according to a projection made by the Brazilian Institute of Retail and Consumer Market Executives (Ibevar).
The growth will be 6.7% this year compared to 2021, according to the survey, and the preferred items are home appliances, electronics and beauty products.
The president of Ibevar, Claudio Felisoni de Angelo, highlights that the readjustment of Auxílio-Brasil, approved last month, encouraged consumers this year, even in an environment of higher inflation.
“The scenario for this Father’s Day is positive and we must overcome 2020, the year that boosted consumption in Brazil due to the implementation of emergency aid”, he says in a press release.
With the historical series started in 2018, the purchase intention projection for Father’s Day increased by 2.8% in the second year of measurement, 2019.
In 2020, growth was higher, reaching 19%. In 2021, the index begins to reflect the country’s current economic scenario, with a drop of 4.6%, to resume the upward curve with the new emergency aid this year.
