Queen Elizabeth is honored with a gold coin worth around R$ 115 million

A new tribute to Queen Elizabeth II may be among the most valuable coins of all time.

With almost 3.6 kilos of gold and 6,426 diamonds, it has an estimated value of US$ 23 million, equivalent to around R$ 115 million.

The East India Company, which produced the object, named it “The Crown”. The coin’s value will be justified because of the quality of materials and craft processes, according to the company.

The coin has a diameter of about 24 centimeters, which makes it wider than a basketball. In addition, nearly a dozen 24-carat gold coins lined with diamonds.

The object also features images that represent virtues — such as truth, justice and courage — and portraits of the monarch, who died on September 8, 2022, throughout her reign.

“The Crown” took over a year to make and commemorated Elizabeth’s platinum jubilee, whose reign spanned from 1952 to 2022.
