At À Prioli, Marta, known as the ‘queen of football’ and elected six times the best player in the world, was moved to hear praise from Gabriela Prioli. The presenter called her the queen of women for making history and paving the way for other athletes in the sport.
“I don’t want to be the only athlete to achieve these feats, the only Brazilian athlete to become the best in the world. I want to see other girls shining too, so we work hard to make that happen”, said Marta.
The athlete recalled the time when she was a child and, when beating boys in football, she heard comments like “Man-macho”, “She is not a woman”, “Let’s take her clothes off and see”. For her, society insists on defining women in only one way. “They forget that you have feelings, that you have your opinions and that they are different opinions. No, you don’t have to think the way I do, but you have to respect it. And that respect goes a long way,” she vented.
