Rains in RS: see before and after tourist attractions in Porto Alegre

The rains in Rio Grande do Sul still leave Porto Alegre underwater and the city's tourist attractions are unrecognizable. Laçador Statue, Arena do Grêmio, Usina do Gasologista and Salgado Filho Airport are some of these affected points. See the images above.

On Friday (3), landing and takeoff operations were halted at Salgado Filho Airport, in Porto Alegre, which had several areas taken over by water from the flood that hit the capital of Rio Grande do Sul.

On Saturday (4), water took over the Grêmio Arena, first around the stadium and then on the lawn. The flooding at the Grêmio club was recorded on social media by the Head of IT (Information Technology) of the club from Rio Grande do Sul, Diego Baldi.

Another emblematic point of the capital of Rio Grande do Sul is the Laçador statue, the structure was defined by municipal law as the official symbol of Porto Alegre in 1992. With the storms, the landscape around the monument was taken over by water, leaving the work isolated.

The Gasometer Plant, in Porto Alegre, was inaugurated on November 11, 1928 to generate electrical energy based on mineral coal. The building is a listed heritage site and was also stranded by the floods in the state.
