Rains in RS: see what the Post Office asks for donations in the state

According to Correios, around 70% of donations to people affected by the floods in Rio Grande do Sul are clothing items. Due to the high volume of clothes, the state-owned company temporarily suspended the receipt of pieces, as the agencies have enough stock to deliver to the state of Rio Grande do Sul.

The state continues to need donations. The Post Office advises that the population continues with donations of water, food from the basic basket, pet food, dry cleaning and personal hygiene material.

Donations can be made at any Brazilian Post Office to be transported, free of charge, to the Civil Defense in Rio Grande do Sul. According to the state-owned company, as of this Wednesday (15), around 11 thousand tons of donations had already been made. received by post. Of this total, around 3 thousand tons have already been delivered to Civil Defense, in Porto Alegre.

Find out what to donate in order of priority:

  1. Water and basic food items (check the expiration date of all items and do not donate if they are expired or close to expiration);
  2. Diapers (geriatric and children's);
  3. Personal hygiene items (toothbrush, toothpaste, soap, sanitary pads, toilet paper);
  4. Cleaning items (dry items such as bar soap, trash bags, cleaning cloths, gloves, cleaning brush, sponges).

Tips to make sorting donations easier:

  1. Basic food baskets must be delivered unopened or with the food in transparent bags.
  2. The ideal is also for personal hygiene items to be delivered already assembled in kits, in transparent bags.
  3. Separate items into categories and place in boxes or bags that can be closed/tied.
  4. Place in boxes or bags with a good seal, taking care to avoid tears or holes.
