Rains in the South and North and heat in the Northeast; see sunday weather forecast

Very different weather conditions happen in Brazil this Sunday (18).

In the South and North of the country, there are rains throughout the day in several states of the two regions. In the Southeast, the arrival of cold air reduces temperatures.

Firm weather prevails in Mato Grosso do Sul, while Goiás and Mato Grosso receive rain with thunderstorms. In the Northeast, the rains occur along the coastline and it is hot in all states.

Rains in the South and North

This Sunday, heavy rain showers may occur across Rio Grande do Sul, West Santa Catarina and Southwest Paraná, due to low atmospheric pressure between Paraguay and the West of the South region. A meteorological phenomenon in the low and medium levels of the atmosphere, characterized by a low and more elongated relative pressure, in addition to a corridor of humidity that comes from the Amazon and the wind currents in altitude, favor the formation of storms.

In the West of Rio Grande do Sul, rain comes at any time of the day, with high accumulations. In other areas where it rains in the south of the country, precipitation starts in the afternoon, with lightning, wind gusts of more than 60 km/h and hail. In the East and Northeast of Santa Catarina and on the coast of Paraná, there are isolated and low intensity rain showers throughout the day, due to the influence of the humidity of the air that comes from the ocean, due to the circulation of the area of high atmospheric pressure.

Rain showers accompanied by thunderstorms hit practically the entire North region. There are conditions for higher accumulations in the Southwest and West of Pará, in Amazonas and in Roraima. Firm weather prevails only in Acre, south of Rondônia, part of Amapá and northwest of Pará. Temperatures are high in all areas of the region.

Temperatures drop in the Southeast

In the Southeast, the entry of cold air favors the possibility of frost in the south of Minas Gerais and reduces temperatures in São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro and Espírito Santo. Some clouds form, but it rains only on the south coast of São Paulo and in the northeast of Minas.

The cold front, which has its extratropical cyclone on the Southeast coast and at the end of the week helped to cause more than 80 millimeters of rain in points in the state of Rio de Janeiro, is now advancing further along the Bahian coast. The phenomenon causes rain showers in the North of Espírito Santo and in the Northeast of Minas Gerais.

Heat in the Northeast and Midwest

In the Northeast, rain remains concentrated in the coastal strip of the region, with high accumulations over the South, as well as in the Recôncavo Baiano and in the metropolitan region of Salvador, with winds between 40 and 60 km/h. In the other areas, firm and dry weather prevail and temperatures are high throughout the region.

Sunny skies in the Center, North and countryside of Bahia, in the Center-South of Piauí, in the Center-West of Pernambuco, in the West of Paraíba, in the Southwest of Rio Grande do Norte, in the Center-South of Ceará and in the central area of Maranhão can cause low air humidity in the middle of the afternoon.

The heat will be present in most of the Midwest this Sunday. Firm weather prevails throughout Mato Grosso do Sul, but it rains with thunderstorms in Mato Grosso and Goiás. The rain in Mato Grosso is voluminous, with peaks of intensity and a high chance of hail. In Goiás, the rain is well isolated and poorly distributed.
