A Dutch cinematographer, however, stands out with his work as he gives a fresh breath to material of the last century.

Rare material now and colored that sticks

The Dutchman known as Ricks Filmrestoration, Rick88888888 on YouTube, tries to change the perspective of archival material by restoring, coloring and enhancing the image with artificial intelligence by making a nearly 20 minute video from London during World War II.

The nearly 20-minute experience travels the viewer around the city, capturing iconic landmarks hit by bombs, as well as nostalgic scenes of everyday people doing their jobs. The rare material comes from an unknown film about London with its temporary title “Heart of the City”.

“The film shows remarkable scenes of bomb damage, close-ups with anti-aircraft gun positions, traffic in Trafalgar Square, Piccadilly, military parades in front of Buckingham Palace, beautiful scenes of the Thames during the day and much more.” , says the author in the description.
