An extension of two weeks is, according to all indications, the restrictive measures that are in force for restaurants and entertainment stores and have as their first completion time horizon on January 16th.

With the government passing the first new test of the new year, which is related to the reopening of the levels of education after the Christmas and New Year holidays, the eyes of Megaro Maximos are focused on tomorrow’s meeting of the committee of experts of the Ministry of Health.

And during the meeting, at the end of which the relevant suggestions to the government will be submitted, the data of the “Omicron” mutation will be on the front line of the infectious disease specialists, as well as the so-called and hard indicators of the pandemic virus. That is, the course of hospital admissions, but also the number of intubated patients in the Intensive Care Units.

The… imprint of this triangle, but also the return to lifelong learning for elementary, high schools and lyceums will largely determine the… fate of the measures, at a time when government officials insist, in all tones, that the first priority is, always, the protection of public health.

An element that makes clear the government will the steps that will follow to be careful, in anticipation of the culmination of this new pandemic wave.

“The data are being weighed, evaluated, its suggestions will be made and the government will take its decisions, which it will announce in a timely manner,” said Mr. Oikonomou from the press briefing.

In this context, according to the latest information, the current framework for catering and entertainment will be extended for 15 days. This means that the opening hours until twelve, the ban on standing, the six people per table and the mandatory use of a double mask or mask of increased protection will walk for another two weeks, while the only issue that is discussed, although not gathers many possibilities of application in this phase, is the return of music to health stores. As for the stadiums, the increase of spectators from 10% to 20% is being considered.

On the education front, the government is satisfied with the field that was formed on the first day of the students’ return to school.

“A massive self-diagnostic test was performed on most of the population tested for coronavirus at the same time. Approximately 1.6 million students and teachers performed a self-diagnostic test within 24 hours, detecting nearly 16,000 potential cases and eliminating them. to prevent further spread of the virus, not only in the educational community, but also in the whole society.
