The Mexican billionaire at the Bitcoin 2022 conference said that the share of BTC in his portfolio has grown six times in a year.
Ricardo Salinas confessedthat more than half (60%) of his liquid portfolio is bitcoin. The remaining 40% are “hard assets”, shares of oil and gas and gold mining companies. The businessman emphasized that there were no bonds in his portfolio. For comparison, in 2020, the billionaire’s portfolio included no more than 10% of the first cryptocurrency.
Salinas runs the Mexican TV station TV Azteca and retailer Grupo Elektra. Currently, his net worth is $12.9 billion, which made him the third richest person in Mexico in 2021 according to Forbes. According to Salinas, investing in bonds is a terrible investment and he would never do it. The best thing that can happen to those who invest in bonds, the businessman says, is that they will “break out.”
Recall that at the end of last year, a Mexican businessman urged everyone to buy bitcoin, stating that people should stay away from fiat money, which are “false pieces of paper”.
Another Mexican who advocated for bitcoin at the same conference was Nuevo Leon State Senator Indira Kempis. She promised that she would offer to make bitcoin legal tender in Latin America.
Earlier, retailer Grupo Elektra announced that it had outsourced the processing of crypto payments to operator Athena Bitcoin Global to ensure fast transactions.
