Richard Teng: Binance is not ready to return to the US yet

Despite the arrival of a crypto-friendly administration in the US, it is too early to talk about Binance returning to the country. This was stated by the CEO of the exchange Richard Teng aired on Bloomberg Television.

“I think it’s too early to talk about returning to the American market. We are now focusing on global development. The company is growing very quickly and we are pleased with the current progress,” he said.

The Binance exchange stopped trading in dollars in 2023 as a result of settling a lawsuit from the US government. The site was accused of violating sanctions, money laundering and operating without a license. Law enforcement officials established special independent oversight of the company’s operations for a period of five years.

The head of Binance noted that the exchange will not push newly elected President Donald Trump to cancel or reduce the period of enhanced oversight of the site’s operations. In his opinion, compliance is a strong competitive advantage.

“I think compliance is the way to go. With regulations becoming much clearer around the world, we have the opportunity to invest very seriously in this area. I want to make full compliance a competitive advantage. [Binance]” said Teng.

He added that the company now has licenses in more than 40 countries and intends to continue working in this direction.

A branch of the Binance.US exchange operates in the American market, but it is prohibited from conducting transactions with dollars.
