The Civil Police of Rio de Janeiro opened an inquiry this Thursday afternoon (16) to investigate alleged sexual harassment inside the Big Brother Brasil house, located in the Jacarepaguá region, in the west zone of Rio de Janeiro, where the studios are located. from TV Globo.
The decision by the Jacarepaguá Women’s Police Station (Deam) comes after images from the reality show show two participants having physical contact with Mexican actress and model Dania Mendez during a party held on Wednesday night (15). Dania visits Brazil in a kind of exchange program with the Mexican program La Casa de Los Famosos.
At a certain point during the party, singer Guilherme Pinho, known as MC Guimê, had his hands on the Mexican’s back and slid them down. The actress took her hands away from him in a clear sign of disapproval.
In another moment, the fighter Antônio Carlos Júnior, known as Cara de Sapato, lies in bed with the Mexican, tries to kiss her and covers them both with the blanket, holding her body.
Then, standing up, he kisses the mouth of the program’s international guest. Dania had no aggressive reaction in either situation. She pointed out, however, that she did not consent to the acts.
After the scenes went viral, the hashtag “EXPULSA OS DOIS BBB” spread on Twitter and became one of the most commented subjects. A CNN questioned TV Globo about the Civil Police investigation and awaits the return.
apologies
An apology was posted on social media controlled by Guimê’s team. “Like all of you, we watched and regretted the episodes involving MC Guimê”, says the note.
“Guimê ended up overindulging in the drink, which made him cross the line at times. We know that there is no justification at all and we hope that he can understand his mistakes and attitudes when he is out here, ”he adds.
“We made the commitment that when Guimê leaves the program, he will see all the images and, above all, understand how serious what happened is, apologizing directly to those in need and reviewing all the behavior of yesterday. We apologize to Lexa [esposa do cantor], Dania, Bruna, their families and fans”, completes the published text. The last name is Bruna Griphao, a participant in the program who was also groped by the MC.
On Antônio Cara de Sapato’s social networks, a shorter message was published that reads: “About dawn: we know that certain attitudes cannot happen even as a joke. So our sincere apologies to Dânia and her family for the events. When he leaves the house and sees these images, Sapato will need to understand what happened, review behaviors, apologize and learn that there are limits that cannot be exceeded”.
Sponsors condemn harassment
On their social media accounts, Big Brother Brasil sponsors repudiated harassment attitudes. Mercado Livre, which carries out merchandising actions at the house, published an image with a hand signaling “stop” and the text: “Even a handshake should only happen when there is consent from both parties. We, at Mercado Livre, are on the side of women and against harassment”.
The fabric softener line Downy posted a statement on its Instagram stories with the text: “Downy repudiates any type of harassment. We believe that this is a social and structural problem, with harmful impacts on society, especially on women. We are committed to a culture that values respect, empathy and taking part in actions that combat this type of attitude”.
The Magazine Luiza avatar shared an image holding a painting saying: “If this happens to women in front of the cameras, imagine when no one is looking”. “If you witness any of these situations, REPORT IT!”, She posted on the retail chain’s Twitter.
“Straight talk here for you: magic only happens on the basis of respect. Any attitude contrary to our values DOES NOT represent us and we do not pass cloth!”, posted the Coca-Cola Brasil account on Twitter.
Riachuelo also used social media to talk about “limits being crossed”: “There are limits that cannot be crossed and harassment is one of them. It has nothing to do with the clothes a woman wears. We defend the right of everyone to be and wear whatever they want without having their body invaded. Our solidarity with the women who went through and go through this situation “.
