Rio-Niterói Bridge has traffic fully released after inspection

The traffic on Rio Niteroi bridge was released in all senses this Tuesday morning (15). Earlier in the day, two lanes of the road towards Rio were still banned.

After a ship hit the bridge structure on Monday night (14), the track underwent repairs and two inspections.

The concessionaire responsible for the bridge stated, through a note, that the collision of the ship did not compromise the structure of the Rio-Niterói bridge. Confirmation takes place after the second on-site survey.

On the night of this Monday (14), the bridge remained closed for more than 3 hours.

According to the Navy, the vessel named São Luiz “had its mooring broken and moved from the place where it was anchored” due to extreme weather conditions.

According to the Navy, the destination of the vessel is the subject of a judicial process and an Inquiry on Accidents and Navigation Facts (IAFN) will be initiated to determine the causes and responsibilities of the accident.
