On Thursday, the president of the Independent League of Samba Schools of Rio de Janeiro (Liesa), Jorge Perlingeiro, announced the holding of a pre-carnival event on February 26 and 27, for around five thousand people per night, in Samba City.

The place houses the sheds of the Grupo Especial associations, in Gamboa, Central Region.

The event, called “Rio Carnaval 2022 – Official Opening”, will feature presentations from the 12 schools of the group and will be held on the day that the parades were originally scheduled to take place at Marquês de Sapucaí.

“It is nothing more than a small parade. The schools will start on stage, performing, then they will go down, there will be a sound car, they will parade down the avenue and stop in front of their sheds. They will make a presentation to around four to five thousand people a night”, explains Perlingeiro.

The technical rehearsals of the associations are scheduled to take place in March, at the sambadrome.
