The Municipal Health Secretary of Rio de Janeiro, Daniel Soranz, said this Thursday (2nd), that the Secretariat is working to prevent people who have not been vaccinated from going to Rio during the parties and other holidays that lie ahead .
“The city of Rio already reaches a very high coverage 95% of adults in Rio de Janeiro have already taken the two doses of the vaccine, but we have to prevent unvaccinated people from entering the city,” said the secretary.
Soranz’s concern is mainly with the new variant, Ômicron. “We have a new variant. Most countries in the world are tightening the collection of vaccination passports. It is necessary for us to increase vaccination coverage throughout the country”, he said.
He hopes that, with the expansion of the decree that restricts the access of unvaccinated people to Rio de Janeiro, the city will be able to avoid cases of the variant in the city. Brazil already has three confirmed cases in São Paulo and one under suspicion, in Rio.
Vaccine passport
A new decree published in the Official Gazette this Thursday (12/2) makes proof of vaccination against Covid-19 mandatory in bars, restaurants, cafeterias, malls and shopping centers.
Beauty and beauty salons, hotels, inns and seasonal rentals also need to charge visitors’ passports. In the case of hotels and inns, the charge must be made at the time of booking.
“To make a reservation at a hotel, any place for accommodation, you need to present your vaccination passport. It will be very difficult for an unvaccinated tourist to circulate in the city of Rio de Janeiro”, he stated.
On inspection and fines for those who do not comply with the determination, the secretary said that he has the collaboration of the owners of the establishments so that the determination is fulfilled.
“If people denounce, or are present in a visit to the inspection bodies, health surveillance, people can be fined and the commercial establishment itself,” said Soranz,
