RJ: biomedicine student is arrested for illegally exercising her profession

A university student was arrested this Wednesday (27), in São Gonçalo, Rio de Janeiro, for illegally practicing the biomedical profession. Silmara Mello da Silva is accused of carrying out invasive aesthetic procedures clandestinely.

The information reached the police officers at the Alcântara Police Station (74th DP) through a complaint made by the Regional Biomedicine Council. At an aesthetics clinic in São Gonçalo, Silmara was arrested for committing a crime against public health. The penalty is up to 15 years in prison.

In addition to carrying out aesthetic procedures on clients without having the necessary technical qualifications or professional registration with the Council, it was also found that she used expired products. At the time of the arrest, some medications were found inside the clinic, such as anesthetics and injectable products, which were out of date.

Also according to the Civil Police, the 7th period student did not tell clients that she had not completed her degree and was carrying out procedures considered invasive, with the application of injectable products, such as vitamins, anesthetics, enzymes, among others, in violation of regulatory standards. .

According to the Regional Biomedicine Council, Silmara is not registered with the professional body and therefore cannot be considered qualified to carry out such procedures. However, on social media, the student presented herself as a biomedical doctor and promoted clandestine services.
