The governor of Rio de Janeiro, Cláudio Castro, announced this Monday (2) the change of the head of the Civil Police and the secretary of Civil Defense.
The announcement was made on social media through a post, where the state government states that the objective of the changes is to strengthen Rio de Janeiro’s security forces.
In the Civil Police, delegate Marcus Amim, who had been in office since October 2023, leaves and Felipe Curi, current director of the State Homicide Department, enters.
This is the fourth change made in the leadership of the Civil Police in four years of Cláudio Castro’s government.
Colonel Tarciso Antônio de Salles Junior, inspector general of the Health Department, takes over command of the Civil Defense and the Fire Department. He replaces Leandro Monteiro, former secretary of Civil Defense and commander general of the Fire Department.
For Felipe Curi, the new Secretary of Civil Police, this will be the biggest challenge of his career.
“The governor has assigned some missions, and we will work together with the Military Police and the Security Department to combat crime with intelligence and investigation,” said the delegate.
According to the government of Rio de Janeiro, the new commander of the Fire Department has more than 20 years of experience in the corporation and will seek to expand services to citizens in all regions of Rio de Janeiro.
“Taking command of the Fire Department is an honor, it is the pinnacle of any officer’s career. I have been with the force for 27 years. I will work to ensure that our management ensures even more improvements for our troops and expands the service network for the people of Rio de Janeiro,” says Colonel Tarciso de Salles Junior.
