Rockstar Games speaks out after leaked GTA VI videos

Rockstar Games, the studio that produces the Grand Theft Auto (GTA) franchise, spoke out this Monday (19) after the leak of several videos of the development of the next game in the series, GTA VI.

Images that have been circulating on social media since the beginning of Sunday (18) show shootings, character mechanics, setting, among other details.

The company confirmed that it suffered a cyberattack and that confidential information and videos from the game’s development were stolen. At the same time, he stressed that the event will not cause interruption in production or long-term effects on the project.

“We are extremely disappointed to have any details of our upcoming game shared with all of you in this way. Our work on the next Grand Theft Auto will continue as planned and we remain as committed as ever to delivering an experience for you, our players, that consistently exceeds our expectations.”

The note also adds that, when the game is ready, they will update the community and present it in a “proper” way.

“We recently experienced a network intrusion in which unauthorized third parties illegally accessed and downloaded sensitive information from our systems, including development footage for the upcoming Grand Theft Auto. At this time, we do not anticipate any disruption to our services or
any long-term effect on the development of our project.

We are extremely disappointed to have any details of our upcoming game shared with all of you in this way. Our work on the next Grand
Theft Auto game will continue as planned and we remain committed as ever to delivering an experience for you, our players, that consistently exceeds our expectations.

We will update everyone again soon and of course we will properly introduce this next game when it is ready. We want to thank everyone for their continued support through this situation.”
