The governor of Minas Gerais, Romeu Zema (Novo), said in an interview with CNN this Monday (4th) to be “confident that the reduction in ICMS on fuel will arrive at gas station pumps soon”.
However, the governor said that “the municipalities are extremely concerned because the ICMS finances a large part of the expenses with health and education. We are apprehensive about the issue of compensation, as these municipalities will have difficulties if it is not done properly,” he stressed.
When asked about what should be discussed during a meeting with President Jair Bolsonaro (PL) on Monday afternoon, Zema said that he will address the decision of the Federal Supreme Court (STF) that he authorized last Friday (1st) , Minas Gerais to request adhesion to the Tax Recovery Regiment (RFF).
“I will ask for all the efforts of the Ministry of Economy and the Secretary of the National Treasury so that Minas Gerais can make this adhesion, which is of fundamental importance for the balance of the state’s accounts”, he added.
