The Rio Grande do Sul Court suspended the inauguration of a temple dedicated to Lucifer due to lack of an operating license.
The decision of the 4th Civil Court Specialized in Public Finance of the Gravataí Forum is from this Tuesday (13), on the same day that the inauguration of the space was scheduled, and responds to a request from the City Hall of Gravataí, in the metropolitan region of Porto Alegre.
Events in the space were also prohibited, under penalty of a daily fine of R$50,000.
In a statement, the Judiciary stated that it is not against religious freedom, but reinforced that religious temples must comply with legal requirements to operate.
Also in a note, it was reported that the space, located in the rural area of the municipality, has its address kept confidential, due to the attention given by the entire country to the place.
Note from the City Hall of Gravataí
In a preliminary decision, the 4th Civil Court Specialized in Public Finance of the Gravataí Forum accepted the request of the City of Gravataí to close the Temple dedicated to Lucifer in the municipality.
As a matter of urgency, the decision prevents the inauguration event from taking place and determines the closure of the location until its due administrative regularization, under penalty of a daily fine of R$50,000.
The request by the City Hall was made due to the fact that the temple did not have an operating license, did not have a registered CNPJ and also due to the insecurity generated by the great repercussion caused by the issue.
