The Russian one Gazprom supplies Europe with as much gas as possiblethe Kremlin spokesman told reporters today, Dmitry Peskovand added that Technical issues on pipeline equipment that due to sanctions prevent Gazprom from exporting more.
THE Russia handed over less gas in Europe today in a further escalation of an energy standoff between Moscow and the European Union that will make it harder, and more expensive, to fill the Union’s tanks ahead of winter.
The drop in deliveries, which Gazprom reported earlier this week, means that the pipeline’s capacity Nord Stream 1 – the main distribution route for Russian gas to Europe – has dropped to a fifth of its capacity, as Russia said another gas turbine needs repair.
“Gazprom provides [αέριο] as much as is necessary and possible. We know that the technical possibilities of supply are reduced nowPeskov said, adding that European sanctions prevent the timely repair of Nord Stream 1 equipment.
Peskov said Gazprom will be able to increase supplies when the maintenance is finished. “Gazprom has been and remains a reliable guarantor of all its obligations but cannot guarantee supplies if foreign equipment cannot be maintained due to European sanctions,” he said.
