Russia intends to replenish the army with new robots

Today, on April 9, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu visited the company “766 UPTK” (766th department of production and technological equipment) to check the fulfillment of the state order of the Russian Ministry of Defense. The company is engaged in the development and production of robotic systems for various purposes. At a meeting with his employees, Shoigu announced the ministry’s plans to expand the line of military robots.

In particular, he noted that the ministry needs to expand robotic systems, which are already in demand in the army today. Basically, we are talking about heavy robots that are used for mine clearance, as well as robots for radiation and chemical reconnaissance, surface and underwater robots.

It is worth noting that the enterprise “766 UPTK” produces special modular tracked chassis, with which you can create any remote-controlled machines, as well as mobile robots with various functionalities. The company has been supplying its products to the Ministry of Defense for a long time. For example, the Russian army is armed with robots “Uran-6”, “Uran-14” and “Uran-9”. The first is intended for demining, the second is for extinguishing fires, the third is for performing combat, reconnaissance and counter-terrorist missions.
