Russia’s government will relax labor and other regulations to allow defense companies to repair weapons and produce equipment for the military under a new draft law submitted to parliament, Bloomberg reports.
Citing the “short-term increased need to repair weapons and military equipment and secure supplies” amid sanctions imposed by the US and its allies, the document would give the administration the power to impose “special measures”, including night shifts and overtime, if necessary.
The war effort “requires the temporary concentration of efforts in certain sectors of the economy,” the document said.
Officials have said Moscow has adequate supplies of weapons, but Western governments have argued that supplies of some are running low as the campaign drags on.
