Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said today that US, British and French support for Ukraine is fueling serious strategic risks, raising the possibility of a direct confrontation between the world's biggest nuclear powers. Lavrov assessed that the US and NATO are obsessed with the idea of achieving a “strategic defeat” in Russia and added that there is a risk that this confrontation could lead to an increased level of nuclear danger. “The West is heading dangerously to the brink of a direct military conflict between nuclear powers, which will have devastating consequences,” the Russian minister stressed. “Of particular concern is the fact that the troika of Western nuclear countries are among the main financiers of the criminal regime in Kiev, the main instigators of various provocative steps. We see strategic risks in this, leading to an increase in the level of nuclear danger,” Lavrov added. The three Western countries that have nuclear weapons are the US, Britain and France.
