The software development company was introduced by Sergey Dmitriev, Valentin Kipyatkov, and Eugene Belyaev – all Russian Nationalists. JetBrains is ranked 79 out of a 100 companies and works with 300,000 businesses including SolarWinds which is based in Austin, Texas.

They are still looking for answers on whether this was the main target for Russian workers to initially infiltrate Solar Winds. However, on Wednesday, SolarWinds declared that it has been using Team City software for the development of its own software.
According to SolarWinds’ report, a total of 18,000 users downloaded its settled software.
On Dec 7,2020, the National Security Agency cautioned that VMware, which is also a techonology company, was in the hands of Russian hackers. On VMware’s blog post, JetBrains informed that the company was not contacted by any government officials.
On Dec 31st, 2020, Microsoft announced that its systems were also violated by the exact intruders and said with surety that the Russian hackers read the company’s source code. Also, another company called CrowdStrike was attacked unsuccessfully, through a company that works for Microsoft.
In an internal assessment carried out by Amazon which has been testing tools used by hackers, believe that the summed-up count of victims in both the government and private sector might have gone above 250 companies.
The Justice Department finally closed off the unprotected Microsoft Outlook email system on Dec 24.
