Sales at malls in the country in July rose 14.1% compared to the same month last year and grew 17% compared to July 2019 (pre-pandemic period). The data were released this Monday, 5th, by the Brazilian Association of Shopping Centers (Abrasce).
The survey showed expansion of sales cells in all regions in the annual comparison: Midwest (15.3%), South (15%), Northeast (14.8%), Southeast (13.7%) and North ( 9.3%).
The average spending by consumers in malls was R$ 122.62 in July.
In terms of visitor flow, an increase of 23.4% was recorded in July compared to the same period in 2021.
In the evaluation of the president of Abrasce, Glauco Humai, the recently released consumer confidence indexes show a certain relief on the part of the regulars, which brings optimistic perspectives for the ventures.
“The cooling of inflation, improvements in job vacancies and other government measures end up having a favorable impact on consumer purchase intentions,” he said in a note.
This, together with the growing recovery in the flow of visitors after vaccination against covid-19, has contributed to positive estimates, according to him.
