Salvador City Hall Cancels New Year’s Eve Party

The mayor of Salvador, Bruno Reis, announced this Monday (29), that the capital of Bahia will not hold this year the “Festival Virada Salvador”, an event that would be promoted by the city for the New Year’s Eve party.

The city claimed that, even with the advance of vaccination, “the scenario of uncertainty caused by Covid-19” prevents the event, whose estimated public is 250 thousand people per day, from being carried out with health safety.

“I always said that we were going to assess what is happening in Brazil and in the world, how the pandemic is behaving in places with different rates of vaccination. However, we’ve reached the limit of the decision for New Year’s Eve and we believe that, given everything we’re seeing, this is not the time to put at risk everything we’ve built so far, always putting people’s lives first.” declared Mayor Bruno Reis during an event.

In update.
