Sam Smith opens up about skiing accident that left him with a knee injury

Non-binary singer Sam Smith may be off the ski slopes for a while.

The “Unholy” voice revealed on a recent episode of BBC’s “Sidetracked with Annie and Nick” that he suffered an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury in his knee while skiing on a dangerous slope.

“I went to the black track on the second day and the worst happened,” he said.[O ligamento] it ruptured completely and I decided not to go the surgical route, but I basically couldn’t walk on that leg for a month.”

Smith was photographed in January walking with a cane and wearing a leg brace. The cause of the injury was unclear at the time.

A five-time Grammy Award winner, Sam said there is a silver lining, sharing that recovering from his injury has also been an opportunity to focus on mental health issues.

“I had been struggling with anxiety for years, so I used it as an excuse to get my life in order,” Smith said.

Smith is currently on an international tour and is due to perform in Switzerland on Wednesday (24).
