Samsung and Apple have launched a program to swap old LG smartphones for new mobile phones in South Korea. At the same time, they offer to pay the market value of old phones and give 135 dollars more as a gift.
Apple will run its exchange program until September 25, with users of LG smartphones with 4G and 5G returning their phones to purchase an iPhone 12 or iPhone 12 Mini in return.
Samsung plans to carry out a similar program until the end of June, and LG smartphone users can purchase instead the flagship smartphones of the Galaxy S21 series, Galaxy Note 20, as well as the Galaxy Z Flip 5G or Galaxy Z Fold 2.
Samsung currently holds about 65% of the smartphone market in South Korea and Apple about 20%. LG, which confirmed that it is leaving the smartphone business and closing its mobile phone division, had about 13% of the market.
As a reminder, LG has said it will release up to three versions of Android updates for its premium smartphones.
