Samsung to build $ 17bn chip factory in Texas

More recently, rumors have surfaced on the Web that Samsung is planning to build a new chip factory in the United States. Some sources said that the new factory would be located in Arizona, while others claimed that Samsung would build production in Austin or New York. And now it has become known that the company has chosen a completely different location for its plant.

As reported by the portal SamMobile, a new Samsung plant for the production of chips will open in Texas. More specifically, it will be located on an area of 1200 acres (485,623 square meters) in the city of Taylor. Texas Governor Greg Abbott is expected to announce a partnership with Samsung to begin construction on a new facility today, November 23.

Official documents indicate that the new Samsung plant will create up to 1,800 jobs. The commissioning of the enterprise and the launch of chip production are scheduled for 2024. The Korean tech giant plans to invest about $ 17 billion in the construction of the plant.

It is noted that the Texas authorities, in order to attract Samsung, offered the company significant benefits. Specifically, the government will provide the company with a 90 percent property benefit for the first ten years.

By the way, it should be noted that Samsung already has one chip factory in Texas. It is located in Austin, but sources say it is smaller than the future Taylor factory.
