Samsung Electronics and Mastercard announced a strategic partnership. The companies jointly want to create payment bank cards with a built-in fingerprint scanner.

The technology is similar to the Mastercard biometric cards introduced in 2017, which allow you to authenticate purchases without entering a PIN.
Samsung notes that the cards will now feature Samsung’s new System LSI Business security chipset, combining several separate security chips together. The goal is to improve security by reducing areas of physical contact – prints will be scanned directly onto the card rather than by a separate terminal in the store. However, the cards are also compatible with the current Mastercard authentication technology.
This technology will be used in Samsung Cards. Biometric authentication cards are slated to begin rolling out in South Korea towards the end of the year.
