São Paulo City Hall hopes to announce New Year’s Eve in early December

The City of São Paulo is evaluating the holding of the New Year’s Eve party, given the epidemiological and healthcare scenario of the coronavirus in the city. The holding of events, according to the municipal management, is subject to the framework and “understanding of public health and health authorities”.

The municipal secretary of Health, Edson Aparecido, told the CNN that an analysis of the indicators could still be carried out in early December.

As the city has low hospitalization rates, and vaccination is progressing “fast”, the City Hall projects that 95% of the population over 12 years old will be fully immunized by then, “and then the ideal conditions will be given to hold these events safely here in the city of São Paulo.”

According to Aparecido, “there is the idea” of publicizing the definition of the use of masks in open places and the execution of public events on December 5th.

In a statement, the City Hall stated that “the City Hall of São Paulo, through SPTuris, informs that New Year’s Eve is already being planned and that the event is subject to the epidemiological situation related to the Covid-19 pandemic.”

At this moment, there are 97.15% of the adult population completely immunized with the two doses or the single dose of Janssen in the city of São Paulo. Regarding teenagers, 21.78% are with the complete scheme.
