Sapucaí: medical centers set up have a capacity for 1,000 consultations per day

In the week when the tambourines play again on the samba catwalk, an entire team is already preparing to solve possible health problems that may occur during the school parades.

According to the Municipal Health Department of Rio de Janeiro, the main causes that lead revelers to seek medical attention at the sambadrome are malaise due to heat or excessive alcohol consumption, hypertension, sprains and dislocations, cuts and various traumas. .

To deal with the cases, seven health care centers were set up at Marquês de Sapucaí, with capacity for a thousand patients per day of the parade.

The units have 32 beds, eight of which are advanced, and 71 professionals hired to attend to medical emergencies during the party at the sambadrome. The posts have the structure to attend from the simplest cases, of dehydration, for example, to the most serious, which have an imminent risk of death.

In addition, an entire structure for patient removal was also planned, with up to 16 ambulances with advanced support (mobile ICU) to make the transfer, coordinated by the Municipal Regulation Center, to hospitals or UPAs in the network.

“In the technical tests, we performed 124 calls, with twelve removals. So, the team has already closed all the flows, has already trained a lot, we are ready”, guaranteed the municipal secretary of Health, Rodrigo Prado.

The service will work between the 20th and 24th and on Saturday of the champions (30th). The medical posts are in the concentration, dispersion and other strategic points of the carioca samba catwalk.

A day, 26 doctors, 18 nurses and 27 nursing technicians will be on duty to assist school members, the public or workers who need it.

On the day of the investigation (26), there will also be a schedule for attendance at Praça da Apoteose. “Our medical posts are prepared and equipped to provide prompt care for emergencies that arise, whether with school members, the public or the sambadrome’s workforce,” said Prado.

Vaccine passport

Inspectors from the Health Surveillance Institute will also work at the sambadrome and Terreirão do Samba to collect the vaccine passport.

According to the municipal secretary of Health, all employees, members of schools and the public over 18 years old will have to present the card that proves the immunization to have the entry released.

The health measure is the only one that remains in force in the state capital. But Prado does not believe there is an increase in Covid cases after the revelry.

“We have a very favorable ideological scenario, it is one of the best in the pandemic, our positivity rate in the tests is also low, there are few people hospitalized, few people seeking the health service for severe acute respiratory syndrome. So, we are monitoring, but we believe that Carnival will be quiet. In the other carnival we did not have any increase, on the contrary, it continues in this downward trend. So we will have to follow up to see what will happen and take measures”, explained the secretary.
