Saranti Group continues its investments in Greece by modernizing its production plant in Oinofyta. According to a relevant announcement, the installation of state-of-the-art photovoltaics in the production unit of Inofyta has been completed and will actively contribute to the reduction of the carbon footprint of the Group. This action is an indication of the environmentally and energetically responsible operation of the Group, having as orientation the confrontation of the climate change and the green transition of the Group.
The installation of the modernized photovoltaic system, with a capacity of 1MW is expected to produce 1,350 Mwh, covering about 50% of the plant’s needs in terms of energy, while at the same time the expansion of the plant is being considered with the aim of transitioning the plant to full energy autonomy. The production of renewable energy will actively contribute to the reduction of the carbon footprint of the Group in the future and will serve the increased energy needs of the plant, setting important conditions for a more sustainable production. This action is fully in line with the Group’s strategy towards a more sustainable direction in terms of growth, maintaining the best balance between the financial performance of the Sarantis Group and its responsible production practices.
The factory of Inofyta, after a cycle of investments that has taken place, has been catalytically upgraded, significantly increasing the efficiency of the Group’s production. The modernization of the factory production is compatible with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), having all the necessary certifications to ensure quality and safety with ISO 9001 – Quality Management System, ISO 22716 – GMP for Cosmetics, FSSC 22000- Food Safety System Certification, while the installation of photovoltaics came to further strengthen the coverage of ISO 50001- Energy Management Systems, upgrading the energy footprint of production.
At the same time, the Group is in the process of obtaining certification at the Inofyta factory in accordance with the international standard ISO 45001: 2018 for Occupational Health & Safety Management, while the receipt of environmental certification according to ISO 14001 has been launched.
According to the same announcement, a systematic approach is followed for the continuous improvement of energy efficiency, aiming at the reduction of energy use and consequently at the reduction of air pollutant emissions at Group level. This shift to renewable energy came to complete the transition of production from oil to natural gas, to the plant in Greece but also to strengthen the already installed system of solar panels that covers a significant part of the needs for cooling energy, always focusing on the greenest operation of the Group.
Also, similar actions are considered, as well as the receipt of environmental certifications in the Group’s producing countries, in order to have a long-term positive impact on the environment.
