Yesterday, in the presence of the Deputy Minister of Finance Mr. Apostolos Vesyropoulos and the General Secretary of Tax Policy and Public Property Mrs. Athena Kalyva, state-of-the-art technological equipment was delivered to the Economic Crime Prosecution Corps, after a donation made by the company Papastros.
The new, technologically advanced equipment is expected to significantly strengthen the SDOE, in its daily work to curb smuggling.
The Ministry of Finance has taken important initiatives in the context of reducing smuggling, a phenomenon that seriously affects the economy, entrepreneurship, but also society itself.
The results of this effort are already visible, sending a strong message of zero tolerance for organized networks of illicit trade. It is indicative that in a short period of time 13 fully equipped factories for the production of illegal cigarettes were dismantled, while at the same time dozens of arrests were made.
On the occasion of the delivery of the equipment donated by Papastratos to SDOE, the Deputy Minister of Finance, Mr. Apostolos Vesyropoulos stated: “From the first moment we sent a clear message. We are not going to show the slightest tolerance towards all those who endanger the economy, business viability, but also the safety of citizens.Through an organized network of initiatives and actions, we fight daily to reduce smuggling, bringing tangible, measurable results.Thank you very much Papastratos for the new, important donation critical technological equipment carried out “.
