Second suspect of involvement in the death of Mega-Sena winner is arrested

The Municipal Guard of Santa Bárbara d’Oeste (SP) arrested this Sunday (18) another person suspected of involvement in the death of Jonas Lucas Alves Dias, winner of a R$ 47.1 million prize at Mega-Sena, in 2020. .

The detainee is a 24-year-old female, known by her social name, Rebeca. This is already the second arrest of those involved in the murder and two are still on the run.

Last Friday (16), a 48-year-old man was arrested, also suspected of participating in the case. He already had passages with the police.

According to the São Paulo State Public Security Department, the agents served an arrest warrant issued by the justice, and the woman has already been referred to the Participatory Police Station in Piracicaba, where investigations are ongoing to locate and arrest the two fugitives.

During the period in which Jonas was in the hands of the criminals, around R$20,000 were withdrawn from his accounts and there was an attempt to transfer R$3 million, but without success.

The Civil Police confirmed last Wednesday (14) the death of Jonas Lucas Alves Dias, who won R$ 47.1 million in Mega-Sena in 2020, and was missing. The case was registered as extortion followed by death.

The 55-year-old victim was found on the banks of the Bandeirantes highway, in Hortolândia, São Paulo. According to delegate Kléber Torquato Altale, the man showed signs of being beaten.

He was taken to a local hospital, but he succumbed to his injuries and died. His brother, 65, provided clarification and reported that Jonas Lucas had been missing for a day.

The victim had approximately R$20 thousand withdrawn from his bank account through bank transfers and via PIX. The Mega-Sena winner’s debit card was also taken.
