Raul Lages, Carol’s then boyfriend, claimed that she had committed suicide. After investigations by the inquiry, according to the Public Prosecutor’s Office, it would actually have been murder.

- 8:43 pm: Raul goes down to pick up food delivery, dressed in shorts and a t-shirt

- 9:11 p.m.: the victim’s children go downstairs to watch the Atlético Mineiro game in a bar close to the residence
- 23:11: After hearing a loud noise, a building employee goes to check and finds Carolina’s body

Ex-partner’s statement
Regarding Carolina’s death, Raul described that, when entering the elevator, he heard the sound of falling from the eighth floor, and was approached by the building’s doorman. According to the police, the chronological version was not proven by security camera images.
In the version presented, Raul claims that he was locked in the bathroom during the “preparation” for the suicide, which included cleaning the couple’s room and cutting the protective net from the apartment window.
THE CNN has been trying to contact Raul Lages’ defense since the first publication about the case. The space remains open.
In an excerpt from the complaint offered, the MP-MG alleges that “the crime was committed against the woman, for reasons of her female gender, in a scenario of domestic and family violence, permeated by physical and psychological violence to the victim, which were materialized for the criminal action carried out by the accused”.
