The Russian Foreign Minister is going to Baghdad today, Sunday (5/2) to discuss the strengthening of bilateral relations and energy cooperation Sergey Lavrov as stated in a statement by the representative of the Iraqi Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Lavrov leads a diplomatic delegation with the participation of representatives of oil companies and natural gaswhile he is scheduled to meet with his Iraqi counterpart Fouad Hussein tomorrow Monday, according to Ahmed al-Shahaf’s statement.
The visit, according to the Athens News Agency, will focus on “strategic relations with Russia, while encouraging investment opportunities, with an emphasis on the energy sectors.”
The Russian foreign minister will also meet tomorrow with high-ranking Iraqi officials, including Prime Minister Mohammed al-Sudani, President Abdul Latif Rashid, and the speaker of the Iraqi parliament, Shahaf said.
