The Union was entitled to 17,000 barrels of oil per day in February, through production sharing contracts in the pre-salt polygon.
The number equals the mark reached in January, which, at the time, was the record recorded by the state-owned Pré-Sal Petróleo S/A (PPSA) in the historical series started in 2017.
The total came from four production areas: 7.4 thousand from the Production Sharing Agreement (CPP) in Libra, in the Mero Development Area, 5.7 thousand from the CPP in Búzios and 4.1 thousand from the CPP in the surroundings of Sapinhoá, all fields that are part of the Santos Basin.
The surplus of Tartaruga Verde Sudoeste oil was not included in the calculation, because it is intended for an agreement between the Union and the operator, through a Production Individualization Agreement (AIP).
According to the PPSA, the average production in February, on a sharing basis, was 446,000 barrels per day. The largest share, once again, was from Búzios, where there are more wells (18), with 406 thousand barrels per day.
The Union surplus of available natural gas was 113 thousand cubic meters per day. Of these, 103,000 come from the surroundings of Sapinhoá, and 10,000 from Búzios. There was a 10% drop in the daily average, when compared to January, due to operational events in the surroundings of Sapinhoá.
In sharing contracts, the Union keeps a portion of the oil production, which does not happen in the concession model, in which the State is remunerated by receiving taxes, royalties and special participations.
PPSA regularly organizes auctions to bid for the Union’s share of oil, resulting from sharing contracts. The last one took place in November 2021, when Petrobras bought 55.7 million barrels on B3, the São Paulo Stock Exchange, for around R$25 billion for the next three years.
According to the February Oil and Natural Gas Production Bulletin, published by the National Agency for Petroleum, Natural Gas and Biofuels (ANP), total oil production in the country, considering the different regimes, at sea and on land, in the second month of the year, it was 2.91 million barrels per day.
A drop of 3.8% when compared to January. However, compared to the same period last year, there was an increase of 3.5%.
