Everyone in the New Jersey courtroom was shocked to hear a young mother admit to killing her 5-month-old daughter to “fulfill her last sin, his murder».
Kristhie Alcazar, 26, made her first appearance in court on Monday after being charged with murder because stabbed her baby until death at her home in Penns Grove on Friday night. The 26-year-old, if convicted, faces the maximum sentence of life imprisonment.
According to an affidavit, the young mother reportedly told police that “she would not change any of the facts surrounding the murder.”
She also said she was fully aware of her actions at the time.
Dozens of knives on the baby’s body
According to the Salem County Prosecutor’s Office, the police responded to a call for intense quarrels in homes on Friday 3/12 night.
When police arrived at the scene, they found Alcazar arguing with another person as well as the body of the dead baby.
The baby had visible stab wounds to his chest, police said at the scene. Many knives and other incriminating evidence were found at the crime scene. The baby’s father was not home at the time of the murder.
Neighbors have erected a small monument in front of the apartment building in memory of the baby who lost his life so unjustly.
“It’s a tragedy,” neighbor Wandy Burgos told ABC 6.
“I lived next to her for two and a half years, so it’s a shock to me,” said a second neighbor.
