Shooting attack leaves one dead at shopping center in Denmark

Danish police said on Sunday that several people were killed after a shooting at a shopping mall in the capital Copenhagen.

Authorities said a 22-year-old man was arrested. An investigation into the case is ongoing. The possibilities of a terrorist act and that more people are involved have not been ruled out.

“There are several wounded, and what we know now is that there are several dead,” said Chief Inspector of Police Soren Thomassen.

City police said on Twitter that officers were dispatched to the mall after reports of a shooting. They advised people inside to stay put and wait for police help.

Local media published footage showing heavily armed police at the scene, as well as people running out of the mall.

The capital’s main hospital, Rigshospitalet, received at least three patients, a spokesperson told CNN . Emergency personnel were called in, including surgeons and nurses, the spokesperson added.

British singer Harry Styles is due to perform at the end of the night, at 20:00 (15:00 GMT), at a concert hall less than a mile from the mall.

The show will take place as scheduled after a close dialogue with police, and half the audience has already entered the venue, the show’s promoter Live Nation exposed in a commentary sent to Reuters.
