Three people died and two more were injured as a result shootings in the main area of its campus VirginiaSunday night (11/13), with the suspect identified as a student and evading arrest, university president Jim Ryan said in a statement today.
University of Virginia police said at 10:40 p.m. last night (local time) those on campus were ordered to shelter in place following a shooting incident on Culbreth Street. The campus remains on lockdown as authorities search for the suspect.
The police, as reported by the Athens News Agency, identified him perpetrator as Christopher Darnell Jones Jr. and believes he is armed and dangerous. According to the description released, he is wearing a burgundy jacket, jeans and red shoes and may be driving a black SUV.
As the authorities announced today, the police are looking for Jones.
