Shop.com e-commerce platform started accepting cryptocurrencies

American e-commerce platform Shop.com has started accepting payments in BTC, BCH, ETH, WBTC, DOGE, LTC and several stablecoins pegged to the US dollar.

Shop.com, operated by Market America, has announced a partnership with cryptocurrency payment service provider BitPay. This will allow the site to accept payments for goods in bitcoins and other cryptocurrencies. During checkout, Shop.com users will be able to pay through the BitPay operator using their cryptocurrency wallet.

Shop.com President and COO Steve Ashley announced that the ability to pay for purchases with cryptocurrencies on the platform has become available in all countries where Market America operates, including the United States, Canada, Australia, Hong Kong, Taiwan, the United Kingdom, Singapore and Malaysia. …

BitPay Chief Commercial Officer Sonny Singh called Shop.com and Market America great brands for the international adoption of cryptocurrencies. He noted that 40% of the platform’s sales come from America alone, and in countries such as Thailand, Argentina, Brazil and Indonesia, it is very difficult to make payments. Not all citizens of these countries have credit cards, so cryptocurrencies will become a cheaper and faster payment method for them.

Given the interest of cryptocurrency holders to pay for goods and services with digital assets, many companies are ready to provide them with such an opportunity. For example, the Las Vegas Auto Gallery car dealership and the Kessler Collection hotel chain have also partnered with BitPay to accept Bitcoin payments. In addition, this year, US electronics retailer Newegg and Latvian airline airBaltic have added DOGE support by accepting payments via BitPay.
