Sinead O'Connor's record label asks Donald Trump to stop using her music

Her record company late Irish singer and activist Sinead O'Connor asked him Donald Trump to stop using her music at his political rallies, adding her name to a list of artists from Taylor Swift to Rihanna who diss the former US president.

Sinead O'Connor, who she was known for her straight opinions on topics such as religion, sex, feminism and war, he would have “disgusted, hurt and offended” from the fact that her work would have been distorted in this way by someone she referred to as “biblical devil“, the announcement emphasizes.

Her longtime record label Chrysalis Records and her estate management company expressed their “outrage” in a joint statement that Trump, the current front-runner for the Republican presidential nomination, was playing her hit “Nothing Compares 2 U” in his election rallies.

“Throughout her life, she has been known as Sinead O'Connor lived by a strong moral code, who was defined by honesty, kindness, justice and dignity towards her fellow human beings”, they emphasize on behalf of the singer, who died last July, at the age of 56.

“As protectors of her legacy, we demand that Donald Trump and his associates stop using her music immediately.”

The announcement came as Donald Trump swept Republican primaries in Michigan, Missouri and Idaho on Saturday, edging ever closer to his party's nomination for the White House and the possibility of rematch with President Joe Biden in the November presidential election.

Many artists or their representatives have expressed similar opposition to having their songs played at Trump events in recent years, including Adele and REM
