Florence is the sixth Tezos update. It was initiated by Nomadic Labs, Marigold, DaiLambda, and Tarides.
171 bakers voted on their proposals. They account for 59.61% of the vote.
Major changes to Florence:
expansion of the maximum size of operations from 16 to 32 KB. The size of the smart contract has been doubled – developers can create more complex applications;
optimization of gas consumption. The platform executes complex smart contracts at a lower cost;
changing the order of links between smart contracts. Previously, the circulation between them was based on the breadth first [первым пришел — первым ушел], теперь — depth first [первым пришел — последним вышел]; It is easier for developers to design links between smart contracts.
changing the process of making edits. The update disabled the testnet feature in the Tezos economic protocol. In practice, it has never been used.
In February 2021, the EDO update was activated on the platform. Tezos has implemented the Sapling library from Zcash.
In April, gaming giant Ubisoft became the corporate validator of the Tezos network.
Earlier in the same month, the Societe Generale conglomerate issued securities on the Tezos blockchain.
