Skin like porcelain with BB Glow, the Korean semi-permanent “foundation”

Waking up with your skin already made up, with a uniform and luminous complexion like that of Risabae, the youtuber and South Korean influencer queen of tutorials and emblem of beauty to be imitated especially for the very bright and perfect complexion, free from discoloration and with tight and compact skin. Results also given by a good traditional foundation. Too bad, however, that at the moment of cleansing they dissolve in a flash. To prolong them, there is a method that has come from South Korea and is becoming increasingly popular in Italy as well. It is not only a valid aid to cover defects due to hyper-pigmentation, but also helps to hydrate, regenerate skin tissues and preserve the youth of the face.

Double action

The experts who propose it in their beauty salons specify that BB Glow it is not only a method that prolongs the life of the make-up base, but it is much more because it works in two ways. “It is an innovative and effective beauty elixir that evens out and improves the appearance of blemishes, scars, wrinkles and dilated pores, but it also fights aging because it renews the skin in depth “, explains Rafaela Consolini, co-owner of Milan Permanent Make Up, enrolled in Treatwell and designated Top Rated 2021, an award assigned to the salons that have distinguished themselves for having obtained the best appreciation from customers for the quality of their services.

The step by step treatment

To obtain appreciable results, at least 3 sessions are recommended to be repeated at a distance of 21 days from each other. “Each one lasts about an hour, with a process that begins with a mechanical or enzymatic peeling, which eliminates thickening and prepares the epidermis to better absorb the products used during the subsequent steps”, explains Rafaela Consolini.

With the second step we enter the climax of the procedure. «It consists of micro-perforation of the skin by means of disposable and sterile needles that convey a serum selected on the basis of skin characteristics under the skin, but at a superficial level. It may contain hydrating hyaluronic acid, antioxidant vitamin C or astringent ingredients in case of enlarged pores », says Consolini. To reinforce the action of these ingredients and seal them follows the application of a mask with LED light. “In the end, using a handpiece called Dermapen from which very small needles come out, of a minimum variable length of 0.2 which is increased and adjusted according to the thickness of the skin up to the maximum limit of 2.5 millimeters, which release the colored pigments, now available in 5 shades “, says the expert. «The technique involves all areas of the face and neck, including the most delicate areas around the lips and eyes, where the needles come out at a minimum.

After 2/3 hours from the end of the session, the skin may be slightly reddened. “Then it is possible to return to the normal performance of the usual activities with the foresight not to wash the face for 12 hours, so as to leave the active ingredients contained in the serum to perform their functions and the pigments to settle in the places where they were placed », Underlines the expert. To preserve the result, maintenance is important: in addition to maintaining the usual cosmetic routine, it is important to apply a treatment with a sunscreen in the morning. The price is around 180 euros per session.

The skin maintains brightness and tone for a period that can vary, depending on the personal response, from 3 to 6 months. As for the coloring, a clarification must be made. «It tends to fade faster, so it is advisable to never abandon the use of foundation» concludes Rafaela Consolini.

Technique and tools

The pigments that are used are released on the surface. «The affected skin level is between epidermis and dermis, and the elements deposited here are almost totally organic and of natural origin, and are therefore risk-free. The case in which non-specific products are chosen for this service, which could contain traces of lead, an element that can favor the formation of stains, is different, ”warns Consolini.

It is not for everyone

The skin on the face must be intact and in good health. “There must be no dermatitis, keloids or deep inflammation, for example. On the other hand, in cases of imperfections such as dilated pores it can prove to be a decisive practice “, explains the operator. In case of particularly reactive epidermis, during pregnancy, breastfeeding, skin diseases should be avoided. «Anyone who has undergone filler or botulinum injections can opt for this procedure. The important thing is that the adjustment period has elapsed, that is 2-3 months after the intervention ”, explains the operator.

Before and after the session

Before the treatment, it is good to go to the salon with skin that has been removed and, above all, already cleansed. Furthermore, it is very important not to expose yourself to the sun for prolonged periods or to have a lamp session in the 7 days preceding the appointment to avoid altering the skin’s melanin levels.

Beware of whoever executes it

Although it is considered a minimally invasive method, it involves a skin micro-perforation. Therefore, it is always better to consult the dermatologist first, the only one who can give a precise evaluation.

Another aspect that should not be underestimated is the preparation of the expert. The salon to contact must be carefully selected, verifying both the skills of the operator and the quality of the products that will be used. This investigation is essential to discover both the name of the manufacturer (to ascertain its seriousness) and the list of ingredients included in the formulation. Only with this simple assessment is it possible to safely exclude the presence of non-degradable materials that could cause side effects.
